For boaters in areas at risk of hurricanes, there’s no worse feeling than seeing a hurricane bear down on you and not being sure if your boat is going to survive. Over the past five years of high hurricane activity boaters have been hit hard, and everyone has seen pictures of boats piled high on top of each other in the wake of the passing storm. Some insurance companies have even stopped selling insurance to boaters in many states!

As a lease member however you will not have to worry about a thing! Each base location has a specific hurricane protection procedure to make sure the yachts are as well protected as possible. Some locations will move the boats to safer moorings, while others will secure the boats with double ropes to protect against the boat breaking loose during the storm. Bimini tops and canvas will be removed where possible to reduce the risk of damage and additional fenders will be positioned around the boat to protect it from any impacts.

Once all the preparations have been completed, it’s time to wait for the storm to pass, however due to the technology we implement on all yachts in the program, we are able to monitor the yachts from a distance so we will know if one of the yachts has suffered any form of damage, or high water levels which will enable us to send support to that vessel as soon as it will be safe to do so.

Of course it does not matter how much preparation is completed, mother nature is very powerful and there is the chance of severe damage to any yacht during a hurricane, therefore if any yacht in the American yacht Share program is damaged, it will be fully covered by insurance and we will work to repair any damage as swiftly as possible to insure the boat is back in action and ready for you to use!
